WE LOVE OUR WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA COMMUNITY <3

Our Community

Rooted in the communities we call home.

At Nantahala Bank, community is more than where we do business — it’s who we are. We live here, work here, raise our families here, and believe in supporting the people, businesses, schools, and organizations that make Western North Carolina such a special place to call home.

As a local community bank, we’re proud to invest in the same towns, neighborhoods, and local dreams our customers do. Whether we’re helping a small business grow, supporting a local event, volunteering our time, or cheering on the next generation, we’re committed to showing up for our community in meaningful ways.

Banking Local Makes a Difference

When you bank with Nantahala Bank, your money stays closer to home. It helps support local businesses, local families, and local opportunities. We believe in personal relationships, hometown service, and decisions made by people who understand this community because they’re part of it too.

Supporting What Matters Here

From community events and nonprofit partnerships to small business spotlights and local school support, Nantahala Bank is proud to stand beside the people and organizations working to make our area stronger.

We’re honored to be part of the moments that bring people together — the fundraisers, festivals, ribbon cuttings, volunteer days, and everyday acts of service that remind us why community banking matters.

Our Promise

We will continue to serve with heart, support with purpose, and invest in the communities that have invested in us.

Small Business Spotlight: Kitchen Sink 🍳
Franklin, NC📍
Brooke and Rob never expected to run a kitchen store, but they knew they were being called to something new. “We were in a unique position and really led here by the Lord,” Brooke shared. “He said go, and we went.”
Since opening Kitchen Sink, they’ve leaned into creating a space that feels like home, a place where people can slow down, explore, and find pieces that bring joy to the kitchen. Whether it’s a best-selling Constructive Eating utensil for kids or a handcrafted olive wood spoon, everything in the store is meant to be touched, tested, and enjoyed.
“It’s like a playground,” Brooke said. “We want people to feel the quality, see the weight, and pick what’s right for them. That’s especially helpful for knives and cookware!”
Over the years, they’ve become active in the Chamber, tourism groups, and local merchant community—and have loved every minute of it. “Franklin has welcomed us with open arms,” they said. “We’ve taken special orders, swapped recipes, and built friendships. We’re just thankful to be part of it.”
Oh, and yes, dogs and kids are welcome!!

🍕 Small Business Spotlight: Angelo’s Downtown Pizza
Hayesville, NC 📍
For more than two decades, Angelo’s Downtown Pizza has been serving up authentic, family-made pizza right in the heart of Hayesville.
Angelo grew up working in his dad’s pizzeria while in school, and after studying at the University of South Florida, he realized teaching wasn’t the path for him. When his parents decided to move from Florida to the mountains, Hayesville stood out as the perfect place to call home. After visiting, Angelo didn’t even look at the other towns on the list—he knew Hayesville was it. In 2014, he officially purchased the business from his parents and has been running it ever since.
Locals will tell you that Angelo’s isn’t just known for its pizza—it’s the warm, welcoming atmosphere that keeps people coming back. “It’s pretty authentic pizza for a small town,” the family shared. Customer favorites include garlic sticks, strombolis, and their house special pizza, all made with their signature sauce.
After 23 years in the community, the family says it’s the kindness of the people that makes Hayesville feel like home. “We love living in a smaller community where your customers become your friends,” they said. Their best advice for new customers? Be patient during the rush—they stay busy because it’s worth the wait!
